The Sheridan Fire-Rescue Department is releasing the results of a survey conducted during the Big Horn Homebuilder’s Home Show in March of this year. Participants were asked to complete a written survey to identify the community’s priorities for the fire department. Categories included Services, Programs, and Training.
Participants ranked Fire and Emergency Medical Response as the top priorities for the fire department in the Service category. Auto extrication abilities, Fire Code Inspections, and Home Safety Inspections were also at the top of the list. Ice Rescue, High Angle Rescue, and Fire Origin and Cause Investigations were considered lower priorities.
In the Programs category, the Smoke Detector Give-a-way Program, the Child Passenger Safety Seat Program, and the School Fire Safety Education Programs received the most favorable responses. Programs considered lower priorities by the participants included the Open House events and the 3rd Rider Program.
In the Training category, the responses were highest for CPR, First Aid, and Day Care Fire Safety programs. The lowest training priorities according to the participants were Auto Extrication, Fire Extinguisher, and EMT-Basic training. All training programs in the survey were those that Sheridan Fire-Rescue provides to the public.
