City of Sheridan Water Treatment Plants

Locations:
Sheridan Plant at Soldier Creek
Big Goose Plantat Big Goose Canyon

Our Goal Is...
Our goal is to ensure that quality drinking water is available to Sheridan citizens 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. It is also our goal to maximize the use of our most valuable resource - water - through conservation.

Our Responsibilities...
The City of Sheridan Water Treatment Division operates both the Sheridan and Big Goose Plants, Intake Facility, and water supply sources. The treatment plants draw water from Big Goose Creek and supplement from the Twin Lakes Reservoir during peak use times. Water is rigorously cleaned before it ever reaches your faucet.

Plant operators are charged with keeping up with ever evolving Drinking Water regulations and ensuring our plants are operating in compliance with these regulations.

USEPA Safe Drinking Water requirements.

Summary:
  • The Sheridan Water Plant provides a safe, continuous supply of high quality water.
  • We strive to produce the "highest" quality water at the "lowest" cost to the public.
  • Our water exceeds EPA standards, which are far more stringent than the FDA's.
  • Our operators undergo constant training throughout their careers.
  • All Operators are certified by the State of Wyoming's DEQ.
  • We have security systems in place to protect our drinking water.
  • We have an alternative power source during emergencies.
  • The plant has operator coverage 24/7  365 days a year.
Current Projects...
  • Continual monitoring of drought conditions including evaluation of water use and availability of water to meet those needs.
  • Construction of Intake improvements.
  • Planning improvements to infrastructure at the Sheridan Water Treatment Plant.
