Are There Other Places I Can Bring My Recyclables?
Aluminum cans, steel cans, magazines, and newspaper can be dropped off at the recycling center during normal operational hours or the 24-hour drop off site at the recycle center. All of these recyclable materials can also be placed in the 24-hour drop off trailers at the locations below:
Recycling Trailer Locations:
Please rinse and remove labels on steel cans before bringing to the Recycling Center or placing in 24-hour drop-off trailers. White and Pastel colored office paper is also accepted at the Recycling Center.
Cardboard may be dropped of a the city recycle center during normal operation hours or placed in one of the following 24-hour drop off locations::
- City Recycling Center, 1148 KROE Lane
all New Location:
- T & C Shopping Center, 2146 Coffeen Avenue
- K-Mart Shopping Center, 2571 N Main St
At these locations we can only accept clean corrugated cardboard for recycling.
NO: (Cereal boxes, pop containers, to boxes, egg cartons, etc.) cardboard bust be flattened and have no trash included with it.
LOOK for more 24-hour Cardboard locations coming in the near future.
Things We Would Like You To Know
- No hot ashes in the trash cans
- The waste collections department works all holidays except Christmas
- We will pick-up cardboard at commercial stops but not at your residence
- Nothing should be left outside the can / if you need more service we can provide it at an additional cost
- We do special pick-ups - please call to schedule a time
- Please make sure that your cardboard is clean / no Styrofoam, plastic or trash inside the box
- We only pickup corrugated cardboard / no cereal boxes, eggs cartons, etc.
- If you are throwing your boxes in the trash break them down or cut them up - it will greatly increase the room in your can
- Grass bags may be hauled to the landfill free of charge / please do not set them next to your trash can - they will not be picked up
- Branches can be hauled free of charge to the landfill / please do not throw them out on the curb or in your alley - they will not be picked up
So What's With The Price Of Aluminum?
The market ($) for recyclable materials is currently at the lowest in recycling history. The Recycling Center takes this bottomed out market as a positive - the market can only go up! Please be patient with us as we plan for the future, expand recycling activities and continue to grow.
