Wyoming-Park Area Project Planning
The City of Sheridan is beginning the planning and design process for a series of projects to improve or replace water and sewer lines, storm sewer, and street surfacing in the neighborhoods south of Brundage Street between Scott Strreet and Wyoming Avenue on the west and Sheridan Avenue on the east. At the City of Sheridan, we are changing the way we do business by making public outreach a top priority. We have received many suggestions, comments, and recommendations from the neighborhood, and we appreciate your involvement. From this public input, the project team has identified the main concerns that we will address. This web page is intended to update you on project progress and some of the immediate goals we hope to accomplish. Please bookmark this page to view updates and the continued comments received through the process of this project. At the March public workshop, at the citizen focus group meetings, and from the community comment sheets received, the project team listened to your concerns regarding high traffic volumes and speeding on residential streets throughout the area.
Based on what we heard, the project team conducted an in-depth examination of traffic volume, movement and speed through the area. The project team will use those findings to continue to work with neighborhood residents in developing traffic solutions for the area. The project team has decided, in response to the neighborhood concerns, to test a potential traffic calming measure at the intersection of Wyoming Avenue and Whittier Street. The diagram below details a traffic control “island” to be temporarily installed to prevent through traffic on Wyoming Avenue. This test solution is expected to significantly reduce the amount of traffic using Wyoming Avenue and promote residential traffic only.- Once this traffic control measure is in place and you have had a few weeks to see how it works, we will want to hear your comments about its effectiveness. Please take this short survey about the proposed solution, send your comments to Jason Baker, City of Sheridan Project Manager, or call Jason directly at 674-6483.
Watch for the next project workshop, in July, to discuss progress and next steps!
Project NewsThanks to all the Wyoming-Park area residents who joined us for a March 11 open house to discuss goals and priorities for potential projects in the area. The project team will now conduct a series of surveys in the area to assess the condition of existing infrastructure, count traffic volumes, and evaluate traffic flow patterns. We expect to host another public workshop near the beginning of June to discuss those findings. Dates and times will be posted on this page, on the community calendar, and in local media.Click here to review the presentation from the March 11 open house.
