The communications operator is a civilian member of the Sheridan Police Department, and is responsible for providing radio communications for local law enforcement and other emergency services agencies. The Communications Operators are responsible for handling radio traffic, 911 emergency calls, regular phone lines, and some walk-in traffic to the police department.

The Sheridan Police Department Communications Center Operators are well-trained professionals who provide critical service to emergency services. The position is often fast-paced and highly stressful.
