The Sheridan Police Department Community Service Officers respond to animal related complaints and problems received from the public. They also patrol the City looking for animals at large and other violations of the city animal ordinances. The Community Service Officers respond primarily to domestic animal problems, however they are also called on to deal with wildlife issues.

The Community Service Officers work closely with the animal shelter in handling animal issues such as abuse and neglect. They also investigate animal bites to humans and ensure proper quarantine and monitoring of all involved animals.

The Community Service Officers work 10-hour shifts, with 7 day a week coverage. Hours are occasionally to provide coverage in dealing with any specific animal problems.

Raymond E. Buhr is currently certified through the National Animal Control Academy and has had extensive background in handling all types of animals.

To the citizens of the City of Sheridan from Community Service Officers: We encourage the public to call us on anything they feel needs to b addressed concerning animal issues. Without the public interest and concern, we would not be able to be as effective in providing efficient service. We appreciate all the help the public can provide.
