Treasurer Overview

This department is responsible for
  • The maintenance of official City records
  • Supervising the utility billing operation and issuance of business licenses
  • Maintaining accounting records of the city and perform accounts payable
  • Serving as receiving officer and custodian for city funds
  • Personnel administration and City elections.
Clerk Overview
  • Provides Excellent Public Service with a Smile and a "Can Do Attitude"
  • Schedules Reservations, Coordinates and Issues Permits for Use of City Parks, Grinnell Plaza, Smith Street Alley, Removable Structures on City Streets, Sidewalks or Alleys,  Parades, Food and/or Non-Alcoholic Beverages and/or Merchandise. 
  • Maintains Official City Records (City Council Meeting Minutes, Agendas and Packets, Ordinances, Resolutions, Special Improvement District Files, City Code Binders and Supplements,  Business Licenses, Liquor Licenses and Permits, etc)
  • Research and Provides Requested Information and Documents
  • Assembles and Processes Applications and Information for Municipal Election Activities
  • Assist in the Preparation of and type City Council Meeting Agendas and Minutes, Obtain and Compile Material for and Distribute City Council Meeting Packets.
  • Works Closely with Assistant Treasurer regarding Special Improvement District Paving Assessment Liens and Release of Assessment Liens, Records Documents with the Sheridan County Clerk & Recorders Office and Maintains Files.
  • Receives Legal Notices and Submits to Sheridan Press for Publication.
  • Obtains Titles and Registrations for all City Owned (Licensed) Vehicles and Maintains Files.
  • Processes and Issues City Business Licenses and Liquor Licenses and Permits.

Reminder Notice:  The Liquor License Renewal Process Begins Mid August for the Upcoming Year.  Applications will be mailed to you, with actual deadlines.   We Encourage you to Begin Obtaining the Necessary Documents as Soon as Possible, to Avoid a Delay in the Renewal Process. Deadline for Filing Applications and Required Documents will be Mid September.  Required Documents include, but are not limited to: Current Lease Agreements, Food Service Permits, Proof of  Purchase Invoices, Current Information regarding each Applicant, Partner, Officer, LLC or Corporation Members and any Changes to Your Dispensing Room.

2008 Election
City of Sheridan
 
Councilmembers for three Council seats and the Mayor will be elected at the 2008 General Election.  Ward 1 (West of North Main Street, North of Loucks Street, East of Highland and North of Burton Street), Ward II (South of Burton Street, West of Highland, South of Loucks Street, and West of South Main Street to Brundage Lane, then West of Big Horn Avenue), and Ward III (East of North and South Main Streets and East of Big Horn Avenue at Brundage Lane).
 
Candidates must file in the City Clerk's Office from Thursday, May 15th, 2008 through Friday, May 30, 2008 during normal business hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday).  The application fee is $25.00, and applicants must certify that if nominated and elected they will qualify for the office.  Municiple offices are nonpartisan, and municipal officers must be a resident of the ward for at least one year preceding the election.
